E flats and Euphoniums

This might sound sort of strange, but I have a favorite note. It is E flat.

On a Piano, it is this:

On a Baritone horn it looks like this:

Now, most of you probably don't know what a baritone is. It also goes by the name Euphonium. Personally, I call it a mini-tuba. And that's basically what it is. I play the baritone. It's cool. You actually have a higher chance of getting into a high school for band if you play an unusual instrument, like the baritone, oboe, base clarinet or baritone saxophone.

Which is why I chose it.

Shoes and Sock Monkeys

Shoes are strange. This morning, I couldn't find my shoe. I kept looking, and guess where I found them?

In my pants drawer. I've been speculating on how they could've gotten in there, and the post plausible explanation is my sock monkey stole them. The whole morning he had a mischievous grin on his face, and when I found my shoes, he was so in shock that he fell down.

Speaking of sock monkeys, let's say, theoretically, that a few friends an I were, theoretically, writing a play. And I, theoretically, wanted to add a human-sized sock monkey as the guardian of a land of dreams. Do you think this would be a good idea?

Tulips

I wrote a little short story that I wanted to share.

In the back of my house, I have a garden. A few years ago I planted some flowers to make it look a bit more lively. Over the past few years, all the flowers have grown, budded, died, and came back the next year.

All except one.

One flower just didn't grow. It grew a bit, and then just died. I had no clue what was going on. I tried watering it more, cutting back the other plants to give it some more sunlight, everything. But it didn't work.

Year after year it would grow just a little bit, and then die.

So finally I was going to put it out of its misery, but my neighbor convinced me to stop. To wait. Just a little bit more, she said. Just one more year.

This morning I went into the garden to water the plants, and then I saw it. Sitting in the center of the other flowers, there it was.

The flower that had been doomed from the start, the flower that never grew had budded.
It had finally grown.

Did you like it?

I think they're running out of sports...

In gym, we often do strange things. The girls gym teacher gives units on dancing and X-Box Boxing (Yes, she projects an X-Box screen onto the gym wall and they box), while the boys gym teacher throws us outside and lets us do whatever the hell we want.

It must be hard to come up with ideas like that. They must be like,
"Hey lets do a unit on volleyball!"
"No, we did that in 6th grade. How about pilates?"
"Did that in 7th grade."
"Pilates with weights?"
"What a brilliant idea!"

And so, from the consultation with the other gym teachers,  came the next unit.

I think they're running out of ideas...

Inspiration

Hello I am bored, so I will tell you why I started this blog. I was in my room, going on my email, and I discovered one of my friends, Eliza, had a blog. I checked it out, and it was pretty cool. I decided to share my feelings about the universe with the universe, so I started this blog.

New York

If you really think about it, New York is amazing. It consists of people from all different ethnic groups and people from all different religions and of all different races. It's basically a mini version of the world. In fact, Queens is the most diverse place in the country.

Even the homeless people are nice. There was a homeless guy outside my old school who every time a kid passed him, he said, "Don't forget to read a book!" or "Stay in school!" And I realized-he wasn't just trying to me nice, he was trying to keep us from making the same mistake he made. Everywhere in New York-Manhattan, Brooklyn, everywhere-the homeless people are trying to help the next generation. They say "Stay in school" and "Don't drink" and "Keep studying" to help us.

This is why you don't hear people on the radio singing songs about Pennsylvania*. This is why Empire State of Mind is about New York.

It is amazing.
It is wonderful.

And it is beautiful.

*No offense, Pennsylvania
